There's more to consider than just naming your price when you set out to purchase insurance.
We often have customers tell us about unwelcome surprises when they tried to file a claim or hoops they were made to jump through to get service on their prior policy. Before you purchase your next Massachusetts home insurance or car insurance policy, here are some things to consider:
1. Liability Limits:
Liability losses can be a "big ticket" concern. They don't happen often (hopefully never!) but if they do you will want to be adequately covered. If you think insurance should respond to cover the large car or home insurance loss, you'll want to pay attention to your liability limits.
2. Car Insurance Collision and Comprehensive coverages:
Did you take a loan out for your car? If yes, then you will be required to carry collision and comprehensive and you want to make sure you get a quote for it while shopping for car insurance. If you do not have a loan you will need to decide if you want an auto insurance quote which includes collision and comprehensive. You need to figure out what your car would be worth if it was totaled and decide if the insurance cost is worth it.
3. Home Insurance Dwelling Limits:
Do you know how much it would cost to rebuild your home in today’s construction dollars? Agents will work up a “cost estimator” value on your home free of charge that will give you a good idea as to what that number should be.
Make sure that whoever you deal with takes the time to get to know you and your needs. Not only does that lead to making the right coverage decisions but it also will help you maximize any possible credits that will allow you to save money while searching for the best value in home and auto insurance. It may take a bit more time upfront but will save you premium dollars and headaches down the road.
Do you trust the insurance company or agent with whom you are dealing? There are so many variables involved with getting the best value in a car or home insurance quote you will want to make sure the person who is advising you has your best interests at heart.
