I have decided to change the tone and content of my blog. Instead of commenting exclusively on safety and insurance matters, I am going to weave in some personal and general reflections. I hope you find the blogs interesting and thought provoking.

Fiscal Cliff -

"There is nothing which I dread so much as a division of the republic into two great parties, each arranged under its leader, and concerting measures in opposition to each other. This, in my humble apprehension, is to be dreaded as the greatest political evil under our Constitution." This statement was made in 1780, by John Adams, the second President of the United States. More than 200 years ago Adams could see the future and the challenge of the two party system. Today, both sides still seem to be campaigning...the election is over, it is now time to talk to each other - not to us - and find a solution to our Country's financial challenges. Pointing fingers is easy, leading is difficult.

Patriots -

The Patriots have won yet another AFC East crown. In the ten years Brady has been a starter; he has helped the team win 9 division titles and has led the Patriots to the Superbowl 5 times. A remarkable run of success by any standard. Belichick's management philosophy provides lessons for all of us trying to run a successful business. Play your best players, focus on the details, know what personality type of player works best in your system, give them the right tools and put them in the best possible position to win every week and don't hesitate to make changes when necessary.

By the way, I bought season tickets when Rod Rust was the head coach of the Patriots. I was laughed at by many of my friends who said I was wasting my money. The first season my seats were in the upper level and the the very next season I was able to upgrade my seats to the 25 yard line, 10 rows off the field - that is how bad they were. Now my friends want to go to the games and can't recall how I was lucky enough to get such good seats!

Tip: Have you had your heating boiler cleaned recently?
